Theresa R. Rouse,ásuperintendent of District 86, said Kids Hope USA has a 20-year history with the district that has grown over the years.
She called it a "fabulous program" with "wonderful role models" and she would encourage other churches to become involved with Kids Hope USA, too.
"The more, the merrier," Rouse said. "These are students who need that extra helping hand and that rapport with someone outside their home and outside their school, somebody different."
Sandy Zalewski, director for communications and development for District 86, said the district welcomes involvement from churches whether or not they work through Kids Hope USA.
"We have partnerships with other churches that help with donations for school or they help with holiday parties," Zalewski said.
