Martis' current goal as president is to increase membership to ensure the organ will be maintained for years to come.
In the two years since his presidency, membership has grown form 120 to 156. Members hail from all over Illinois and even out of state, Martis said.
Each month JATOE invites members for a potluck dinner on the Rialto stage and a performance by a notable organist on the Barton organ.
Membership is only $30 a year, very reasonable for an organization that hosts a monthly event, he said.
“Where else can you get a show for $2.50?” he asked.

“There was some beautiful music written back then that sounds pretty good,” Martis said. “But what also sounds good is 'Dark Side of the Moon' by Pink Floyd and 'Stairway to Heaven.'
Martis first experienced the Barton Grande as a child.
