State Rep. Mark Batinick will host two free events in Plainfield in the coming weeks.
Batinick is hosting a senior technology seminar and women's self defense class.
The senior technology seminar will be held at the Plainfield Community Center, located at 15014 S. Des Plaines Street on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m.
The presentation will include information on using wireless devices to improve the lives of attendees, keeping phones and information safe, and helping connect safely, according to Batinick's office. The second portion of the seminar will include demonstrations, discussions and time for answering questions.
Batinick will also host his annual free women's self defense class on March 12, taught by educators at One-Light Self-Defense.
The class will include self-defense, distraction and awareness tactics so attendees have the tools to protect themselves. It will be held at the Community Christian Church, located at 24035 Riverwalk Court in Plainfield on Thursday, March 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Girls and women ages 12 and older are encouraged to attend. An RSVP is required. Those interested can call Batinick's district office at 815-254-0000 to register or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
