Troy Middle School Science Bowl students did well at the recent Argonne National Laboratory Regional Middle School Science Bowl competition, winning four of their seven matches.

Fifteen area teams competed at the event, which was held at Oswego East High School.

TMS Science Bowl sponsor Barbara Will-Henn said the Troy Middle School Science Bowl team was composed of eighth-graders, who were led by team captain Ivan Chen.

Other members who competed were Jacob Cucci, Emily McCune, Paige Rakes and Hayden Smidl.

The competition, sponsored by the Department of Energy, is designed to challenge young students who are passionate about science and engineering.

Many of the questions the students tackled were taken from high school and college textbooks and included the subjects of biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and math.
