Christian, a former vice president with the Lemont Artist Guild, is an active volunteer with, and the oldest member of, the guild. She is also active with the Lemont Center for the Arts.
She hosts open art sessions with at the Lemont Center for the Artists, where she makes jewelry and the other artists “sit and do whatever they want,” she said.
"They have a nice quiet space," Christian said.
Liz Connolly, a fine arts painter and president of the Lemont Artists Guild, finds inspiration through Christian, whom she called "an amazing jewelry artist."
“She sends me notes and thanks me for what I’m doing. It makes me feel like what I’m doing is important and valued, and that is just amazing,” Connolly said. “She’s a very humble person.”
Christian also attends artists receptions and welcomes visitors into the Lemont Center for the art's gallery and steers them toward the gift shop.
Christian said she’s a commissioner of art and culture for Lemont. Connelly said Christian does whatever she can to promote art.
"I'm so proud and excited that I know her," Connolly said.
