D. 202 in Plainfield to host musicals this spring

Plainfield – District 202 high school musicals will stave off the winter blues when they grace the auditorium stages this March and April.

Here are this year’s shows, in chronological order:

Plainfield East High School presents “Beauty and the Beast” at 7 p.m, March 19, March 20 and March 21; and 2 p.m. March 22, 2020.

Follow this “tale as old as time” of the young prince, as Belle helps him find love in his heart before the last petal of the rose falls.

Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students, staff and senior citizens.

Tickets also will be sold at the door for $8 for adults and $6 students, staff and seniors.

PEHS is located at 12001 S. Naperville Road, Plainfield.

Plainfield North High School presents“Sister Act,” the musical comedy based on the 1992 film of the same name.

“Sister Act” is the story of Deloris Van Cartier who unwittingly witnesses a murder. She is put into a convent for protection.

She helps her fellow sisters find their voices while rediscovering her own while disguised as a nun.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. March 20 and March 21; and 2:30 p.m. March 22.

Tickets cost $9 for adults and $7 for students, staff and seniors.

Reserved tickets can be purchased at pnhs.psd202.org/.

Tickets can also be purchased the night of the show with cash or check.

PNHS is located at 12005 S. 248th Street, Plainfield.

Plainfield South High School presents “The Little Mermaid” at 7 p.m. March 20 and March 21; and 2 p.m. March 22, 2020.

In a magical kingdom under the sea, Ariel, a beautiful, young mermaid, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above.

Tickets will be $10 for adults, $7 for children 3 and older, students and seniors older than 65.

Children younger than 3 are admitted for free but must sit on an adult’s lap unless a ticket is purchased.

PSHS is located at 7800 W. Caton Farm Road, Plainfield.

Plainfield High School – Central Campus presents “Into the Woods,” at 7 p.m. April 17 and April 18; and 2 p.m. April 19.

The story follows a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk.

When the baker and his wife learn a witch’s curse is the reason they cannot have a child, the couple sets off on a quest to break the curse.

In the end everyone gets their wish, but they are haunted by the consequences of their actions.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for staff, students and seniors and can be bought in mid-March online at pchschoirs.com or at the door.
