Joliet Junior College to present 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'

Come out to Joliet Junior College this weekend to see “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gilbert.

This production is directed by Tammy Perkins with musical director Debra Miller and choreographer Joey Fatigante.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 5, 6 and 7; and 2 p.m. March 8 at Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Theatre, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” is inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus (251–183 BC).

Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful, but slow-witted, courtesan named Philia for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors and a showgirl or two.

For tickets, call the JJC box office at 815-280-2200. Ticket prices are $8 for the general public, $5 for seniors and $3 for students.
