The Will County Health Department announced two more people died in the county as of Tuesday to bring the total number to eight.
The latest two COVID-19 patients who died were a man in his 80s and a woman in her 80s, according to Will County Health Department spokesman Steve Brandy.
State health officials announced 26 additional deaths on Tuesday, including the two in Will County, bringing the total number across Illinois to 99 deaths.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Will County reached 257 on Tuesday. Of those patients, 134 are male and 123 are female, according to Brandy.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 937 new cases in the state on Tuesday to bring the total number to 5,994. Over 35,000 people had been tested thus far.
Gov. JB Pritzker on Tuesday extended his statewide stay-at-home order through the end of April, requiring Illinoisans to remain at home with a few exceptions.
