Community blood drive in Minooka a success

Donors from Channahon, Minooka and surrounding communities recently answered the call for much needed blood.

On March 28, 105 donors came to St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Hall in Minooka. One hundred and one units of blood and blood products were collected at this drive. Each unit can help up to three people.

Versiti Blood Centers used membership from Knights of Columbus members to make this a success.

The Knights were from St. Mary's in Minooka and St. Ann's in Channahon, and run six drives every year.

Social distancing was practiced to protect the health of those donating.

According to the governor's executive order, individuals are allowed to leave their residence for health care and public health operations, which includes organizations that collect blood, platelets and plasma.
