Word of Life Church in Crest Hill is hosting a special drive-in church service to honor mothers on May 10. Parking opens at 9 a.m. and the service starts at 10 a.m.
Then, on May 16, care for your physical and spiritual health by participating in a free, virtual prayer 5K , also sponsored by Word of Life.
Tyler Quintana, director of operations for Word of Life, said both events are intended to help bring the community together and relieve some of the isolation people may be feeling.
"People have been cooped up in the houses for months now," he said.
The reason for the Mother’s Day service is because Quintana said he knows many people are missing communal worship.
“What better day to do it than Mother’s Day?” Quintana said.
A drive-in service will give mothers and their families an opportunity to see, worship with and even wave to people from the safety of their cars, he said.
“It’s open for anyone, especially those wanting to get out and be a part of a physical church service,” Quintana said. “It’s one thing to watch from your phone, computer or tablet, but it’s another to be on location for church and have that sense of togetherness.”
