Driver attempted to run over man, woman with Ford Explorer: records

A Bolingbrook man has been charged with attempting to strike several people with a Ford Explorer after he got into an argument with a relative of the victims, court records show.

On April 7, officers responded to the 500 block of North Ashbury Avenue after receiving a report of a domestic dispute, according to Bolingbrook police.

Kearis Lowe, 20, of the 200 block of Butternut Drive, was in a verbal dispute with a woman and attempted to hit her family members with his vehicle before he fled the area, police said.

On May 8, Judge Matthew Bertani signed a warrant for Lowe’s arrest on two counts of aggravated assault, court records show. The warrant carries a $100,000 bond.

A criminal complaint filed against Lowe said he attempted to strike a man and a woman with a Ford Explorer.

Lowe’s ex-girlfriend, who is not one of the victims in the aggravated assault case, petitioned for a protective order against him on April 20, 2018, court records show. The petitioned claimed Lowe was physically and mentally abusive to her for two years.

“I am tired of the abuse and want him to stay away from me,” her petition. said.

A judge granted the order the same day and the case was dismissed on May 11, 2018, when no one appeared for a hearing on whether it should remain active, court record show.

His ex-girlfriend’s petition said he was a passenger in her vehicle when he attempted to take the wheel and turn the vehicle into a tree. His ex-girlfriend claimed she was hospitalized for injuries from the crash.
