Two Bolingbrook schools received a large donation of desks for students to use for remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Florida-based home furnishing producer, Twin Star Home, donated 500 desks to Bolingbrook High School and the Secondary Transition Experience Program, both schools in Valley View School District 365U, according to a news release.
The desks were delivered earlier this month and were available for students and teachers to use in their homes for school.
“The generous donation of these desks from Twin Star Home is an outstanding example of how people are coming together to support each other's needs," VVSD Assistant Superintendent of Schools Rachel Kinder said in the release.
The Twin Star Home team worked with school administrators to identify schools in need and spread to the word to the community that desks were available free of charge.
Any desks that weren't picked up for use at home will be used by teachers in classrooms once in-person school resumes.
“With the challenges so many are facing because of this pandemic, it’s more important than ever to step up to help others,” Twin Star Home Senior Vice President of Marketing Lisa Cody said in the release.
