At the July 20 Frankfort village board meeting, Frankfort mayor Jim Holland, with the advice and consent of the trustees, appointed assistant director of development services Zachary Brown to the position of utilities director effective immediately.
Mike Stone, the former director, has taken a position in the private sector.
The Village advertised the open position and a number of qualified people applied. After interviews, the trustees and mayor selected Brown.
Brown has served Frankfort for over 15 years. He has worked in community development, planning, building and in the utilities department as assistant director for three years.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is completing his thesis to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Governors State University, and holds a Class B Water Supply Operator license.
Zach Brown and his wife, Melissa live in Frankfort. They have two children and are expecting their third child in January.
