A Romeoville man was arrested and taken to jail after he stole bottles of liquid soap, hand sanitizer, nail care items, lotion, body wash and shave gel from a Walgreens store on West Jefferson Street, police said.

About 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers met with Don McCaa, 57, of the first block of East Montrose Drive while they were in the 50 block of McDonough Street, according to the Joliet police.

The officers recognized McCaa as "being wanted for multiple retail thefts” that occurred between July 16 and July 28 at the 1163 W. Jefferson St. Walgreens, according to police and Will County court records.

McCaa was taken into custody without incident and he “indicated his involvement in the retail theft,” according to police.

McCaa was taken to the Will County jail after his arrest. He remained in jail as of Friday on a $1,000 bond. He will need to post $100 for his release.

In July 16, McCaa stole multiple bottles of liquid soap, hand sanitizer and nail care items from Walgreens, according to the police.

Later in July, McCaa also stole bottles of lotion, bottles of body wash and shave gel containers from store, according to the police.

McCaa faces five counts retail theft, a class 4 felony that is punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000. A criminal complaint filed against McCaa said he was previously convicted of retail theft in Cook County.

McCaa’s next court date has been scheduled for Aug. 25 at the Will County Courthouse, according to jail records.
