The Illinois National Organization for Women political action committee announced it has endorsed several state and federal candidates on the ballot in November, including many from the Will County area.

NOW is the largest feminist advocacy group in the United States. The organization aims to "bring women into full participation in society — sharing equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities with men, while living free from discrimination," according to its website.

The NOW PAC endorsed Democrat Marie Newman for election in the 3rd Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, for reelection in the 11th District, U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville, for reelection in the 14th District and Democrat Dani Brzozowski in the 16th District.

At the state level, Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, received an endorsement for election to the Illinois Senate District 43.

NOW also backed Democrat Michelle Fadeley in the Illinois House District 37 race, Democrat Dagmara "Dee" Avelar in House District 85 and State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, for reelection in House District 98.

The PAC also endorsed Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-California for U.S. president and vice president, respectively and Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, for reelection.

Illinois NOW lists a number of policy issues it considers important including reproductive rights, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, ending violence against women and economic justice.

The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
