The annual Plainfield Community Homecoming Parade and related activities have been cancelled.
The cancellation of what was to be the 69th annual parade marks another disappointment related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The parade usually features more than 100 entries including floats, students, staff, and family representing most of the district’s 30 schools," the school district said in a news release issued Friday. "It typically draws upwards of 10,000 people to downtown Plainfield."
The parade, canceled because of health and safety concerns, had been scheduled for Oct. 3.
