5th person wanted from high-speed shootout, chase incident: cops

2 arrested, 2 people without charges

Police are searching for a fifth person who was in a car involved in a high-speed shootout and chase on Friday that ended with a crash.

Jesse Tucker, 24, of Joliet, and Nevin McMurtry, 18, of Romeoville, were both arrested in connection with the incident, according to a Will County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Tucker drove the Dodge Durango that crashed at Interstate 355 and 163rd Street following a high-speed chase that began on Arthur Avenue in Lockport Township, police said.

Two others who fled the Dodge Durango after the crash were apprehended by Lockport police after they attempted to get away, police said.

The two were taken in for questioning but refused to cooperate and were released without charges, police said.

“A fifth subject, whom police believe also fled from the Durango, remains at large,” police said.

Police said the high-speed shootout remains an open investigation and additional arrests and charges “will be forthcoming as evidence and facts of this case are processed.”

Tucker was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance, police said. He remains in jail on a $1 million bond.

McMurtry faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $750,000.

Police seized an "AK-47 style pistol that was loaded with 7.62 rounds" after the incident.

The pistol was found in a duffle bag on Watters Drive in Lockport, police said, and "numerous videos from residents" showed "the bag and the firearm in the hands of the suspects."
