A man headbutted two Will County sheriff deputies, bit another deputy’s hand and kicked another deputy, court records show.

On Thursday, deputies went to serve an outstanding arrest warrant on Dennis E. Lee III, 23, of Plainfield in a possession of a firearm case, sheriff spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

The deputies traveled to the 1700 block of Autumn Woods Lane in Romeoville and saw Lee leaving a residence and entering a vehicle, Hoffmeyer said.

Lee was sitting in the front passenger seat of the car, she said. The deputies surrounded the vehicle and ordered him to get out, she said.

She said Lee actively resisted the deputies and he was taken to the ground, where he continued to resist them.

Lee headbutted one deputy in the foot, headbutted a second deputy in the leg, bit a third deputy in the hand and kicked a fourth deputy, according to a criminal complaint.

Hoffmeyer said Lee was eventually secured in a squad car. She said deputies also found a loaded Springfield 9 mm handgun on him.

Lee was previously convicted of robbery in Will County, the criminal complaint said.

At 12:16 p.m. Thursday, Lee was taken to the Will County jail. As of Wednesday, he remains in jail on a $400,000 bond. He will need to post $40,000 for his release from jail.

Lee has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by felon, four counts of aggravated battery and one count of violation of bail bond.

Lee violated the condition of his bond by possessing the Springfield 9 mm handgun, the criminal complaint said.
