The Lincoln-Way Area Business Women’s Organization had to cancel its annual Christmas auction this year, an event that had taken place for 37 years.
The organization is a non-profit that supports the interest and networking of women in the work world, including high school seniors and adults in the Lincoln-Way area looking to progress in the business world through education.
Last year’s Christmas auction raised enough money to award 17 women $1,000 scholarships and had over 240 in attendance. The organization is holding an online raffle that will be streamed on Facebook Live at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15, at the group’s meeting in place of its usual auction.
“We hope to be able to continue to raise money through fundraisers and donations to award multiple people scholarships again this year,” President Stacy Miller said in an email.
The organization was able to hold a small get together in July to officially award the recipients their scholarships.
Jennifer McManus, the organization’s publicist, said the best way to purchase raffle tickets is to stop in at Moody Blues Jeans Boutique, 1844 E. Lincoln Highway. Owner Kathy Wilda is a member of the organization.
Tickets can also be purchased by calling Wilda at 815-712-7953, Cheryl Colanto at 815-485-2724, or Judy Nieman at 815-258-3473.
Tickets are $20 and first prize is $2,000, second prize is $1,000 and third prize is $500. The organization also accepts monetary donations through its website, lwabwo.org, and by contacting the group.
