Romeoville teen gunned down in front of Friendship Centre

Romeoville police investigating teen's death as a homicide

A 19-year-old died after he was shot multiple times Wednesday in front of Romeoville's HighPoint Friendship Center.

Osama Ibrahim, of Romeoville, was pronounced deceased at 6:31 p.m. on Wednesday at the emergency room of AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook, according to a news release from the Will County Coroner's Office.

"Mr. Ibrahim appears to be the victim of multiple gunshot wounds. The Romeoville Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide," officials said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Romeoville police responded to the 6 p.m. shooting in front of the Highpoint Drive community center and found Ibrahim with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the statement from the village.

Ibrahim was taken to AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook, the statement said.

"The investigation leads investigators to believe this was a specific and targeted attack," the statement said. "It appears the victim taken to the hospital may have exchanged gunfire with two other armed males."

The Romeoville Police Department was "in communication with the Crest Hill police to determine if there is a nexus between the shootings," according to the statement. "Anyone with information should contact the Romeoville Police at 815-886-7219."
