A Joliet man was arrested after officers investigating him recovered a stolen pistol, ammunition, heroin and oxycodone while executing a search warrant at a Shorewood residence, police said.
At 1:20 a.m. Friday, Raekwon Campbell, 24, was taken to the Will County jail on charges of armed habitual criminal, possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance, court records show.
Campbell was arrested at 7 p.m. Wednesday before he was taken to jail.
The Will County Cooperative Police Assistant Team began an investigation after receiving information that Campbell was “engaged in illegal narcotics activity in the Will County area,” said Illinois State Police trooper Gabriela Ugarte.
WCPAT agents gathered evidence during a thorough investigation and obtained a search warrant for a residence in Shorewood, Ugarte said.
“The WCPAT agents recovered one stolen semi-automatic pistol, including various caliber ammunition, heroin and oxycodone at the residence during the search warrant,” Ugarte said.
Campbell was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Friday afternoon at the Will County Courthouse.
On May 8, 2017, Campbell pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, court records show. He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
On June 4, 2015, Campbell pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Campbell pleaded guilty to theft Nov. 6, 2013. He was sentenced to two years probation and credited with serving 86 days in jail.
