"There are just areas where it's always a problem," said Virgil Kemp, a Joliet resident who leads volunteer clean-ups around the city. "Cass Street is one of those streets that always seems to be a problem."
Helpers of Mother Earth were not on Cass Street. But the group does have several projects scheduled for the coming weeks.
"We do spring and fall," Kemp said. "We don't want to have the mosquito bites and the wood tics and the poison ivy. And, it's easier to see the litter in the spring and fall because the leaves are off the trees."
The next outing will be on March 17 at Bicentennial Park, and the group plans to go to Pilcher Park on March 24.
