The Illinois State Police and prosecutors from the Will County State's Attorney's Office have kept her in the dark, Cales said, pushing her off by telling her, “Oh, it's an open investigation, it's an open investigation. I can't tell you if we're doing anything or we're not doing anything.”
She says volunteer searchers spotted Stacy's body at the bottom of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal back in November 2007. Stacy had disappeared the month before. Her husband quickly came under suspicion due, in no small part, to the dubious circumstance surrounding the death of his previous wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found drowned in a dry bathtub less than four years earlier.
