Goal: My goal in creating art is to get a consistent idea, that will not leave me alone, into reality. It is almost like an obsession. I am always doing something. Whether it is dyeing fabric to use at some time in the future to playing around on Photoshop to create an abstract photo of a flower. I have a need to self educate. I love to experiment. All this leads to putting it all together and coming up with a finished project.
Inspiration: Artists that have lived in the past are varied. I love Rembrandt for his dark, moody paintings. I love Surrealists, like Rene Magritte, because of their ability to put ideas on a canvas and not care if someone thought they were crazy or not. And Paul Klee will always be a favorite of mine. But, frankly, it is many of my fellow artists inspire me. I belong to several groups that have to do with art one way or another. I love the work that they produce. They inspire me to get into my studio and give their techniques a try.
Words of Wisdom: My advice to other artists is to not be afraid. Fear can stop a beautiful piece of art dead in its tracks. You have to not care what other people's opinions are about your art. You will learn by your mistakes. You won't be perfect. You won't please everyone. Just please yourself. Fear is not an option.
